Position Information: Under the direction of the Director for the Office of Foster Youth Support Services, the Foster Youth Success Coordinator is responsible for implementing a suite of programs designed to increase retention, shorten time to degree, enhance sense of belonging, and generally improve the holistic success of UCR's foster youth students. The Coordinator will work with the Director to develop organizational objectives, goals, and plans for improving outcomes for UCR's foster youth student population. The Coordinator will be a content expert on topics related to the success of foster youth, and will possess the skills to effectively collaborate with UCR's schools, colleges, and other campus stakeholders to achieve successful implementation. The Coordinator will be primarily responsible for student support, program implementation, progress tracking, and reporting.
The full salary range for the Foster Youth Success Coordinator is $56,000 - $96,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $65,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Strong program, planning, organizational and time management skills sufficient to independently set priorities, coordinate and complete a number of competing assignments with established deadlines.
Demonstrated skills with student development practices in higher education and mentoring/empowerment of students.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and groups with a wide array of identity and life experiences, including gender, disability, class race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, culture, religion, etc.
Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues.
Demonstrated commitment and experience with Diversity and Inclusion, including experience working with LGBTQ+ communities and identities, Black/African Diaspora, Chicano/a and Latina/o/x, Asian, and Pacific Islanders.
Knowledge of and experience in conflict management and intervention strategies. Skills to recognize problems requiring specialized attention to handle difficult, sensitive, and/or confidential issues.
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision
Knowledge of the foster youth student issues through programming, resource management or other professional activities.

Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Knowledge of student issues impacting a campus population, including national trends, policies, and concerns affecting
Knowledge and experience in analyzing complex situations and identifying solutions for problem- solving skills and experience in developing and administering programs designed to meet the diverse needs of foster youth students. Knowledge of needs assessment methodology with ability to interpret data to determine program effectiveness.
Knowledge in how to enhance students' intellectual and personal growth and development, including critical thinking, effective communication, self-appraisal, self-esteem, clarification of values, appropriate career choices, and leadership. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multicultural and other non-traditional students.
