The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.
Summary of Essential Duties:
The Catheterization Lab Technician II assists in all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular Intervention Center and is a member of the Electrophysiology Lab
Provides a safe patient care environment, maintains and operates the physiological monitoring/recording system for both interventional cardiac and electrophysiology studies
Assists physicians by functioning as scrub tech, monitor role or assistant circulator, archives all digital images and documents all actions taken by the EP Lab
Responsible for being able to setup and operate all equipment within the department that may be required for a given procedure including but not limited to: Electrophysiology studies, Ablation, Pacemakers and ICD implants
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate of an accredited training program eligible to sit for Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification or RCES exam required
License/Certifications:
BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
ACLS and PALS preferred
RCIS or RCES from Cardiovascular Credentialing International OR CEPS or CCDS from International Board of Heart Rhythm preferred. Must be willing to obtain within 1 year from start date to maintain status as Tech II.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of Cath Lab and/or Electrophysiology experience required
Applicants with less than 3 years of experience may be considered as a Cath Lab Tech I
