The Inpatient Clinical Applications Manager leads staff and processes for all inpatient clinical documentation and surgical management design, development, testing, and implementation. The areas that this individual's team will provide services to include Nursing, Case Management, Therapies, ED, Maternity, Surgical Services, and Procedural Services. This position reports directly to the Director of Inpatient Clinical Applications. Brings specific technical expertise to functions supervised. Responsible for staff supervision; participates in budget development and administration, short- and long-term planning, and quality assurance. Responsible for the overall service delivery for one or more IT functions and/or capabilities.
Essential Duties:
Consults with users on project requests or for problem resolution. Develops solutions, designs and specifications to satisfy user needs. Develops project schedules; plans and estimates staffing and other resource requirements. Supervises the work of staff to ensure project plans and schedules are adhered to. Follows up with users to ensure satisfaction with services provided.
Manages daily operations of team and provides specific technical expertise for functions supervised. Directs and manages the delivery/deployment of complex projects and lends technical assistance to others as needed. Resolves problems referred by staff.
Directly supervises assigned staff. Recruits, screens, hire and trains staff. Evaluates employee performance and provides guidance and feedback to assigned staff. Counsels, disciplines and/or terminates employees as required.
Recommends departmental goals and objectives. Implements and communicates to staff. Reassesses or redefines priorities as appropriate in order to achieve performance objectives. Works in concert with the EMR committees to ensure that teams are meeting enterprise prioritization goals.
Controls or monitors team labor productivity
Coordinates with vendors to obtain appropriate software packages to allow work to progress, supervises testing of new software
Serves as a primary source of information regarding team services. Links team with other work units to ensure services are effectively coordinated.
Participates in development and documentation of internal operating policies and procedures. Assists in development and dissemination of policies and procedures for users. Provides interpretation as required.
Stays abreast of new enhancements being offered by primary vendor and works with senior architect to stay current.
Works directly with the PMO to ensure project tasks are delivered and resource management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Req High school or equivalent
Req Bachelor's degree Degree in Information System, Information Technology, or related field
Req 5 years Minimum five (5) years experience in application development/implementation
Req Must have exceptional customer service and communication skills both verbal and written;
Req Must have demonstrated ability to supervise, judge staff skills and delegate appropriately, with an emphasis on customer service.
Req Must have demonstrated understanding of performance management, business consulting, project management and applicable technology
Preferred Qualifications:
Pref 3 years Minimum three (3) years experience in a supervisory/lead role a plus
Pref Cerner experience in PowerChart and Surgical Services strongly desired
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $133,120.00 - $219,648.00.
