Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a modified hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 2 days per week. The manager will confirm the team?s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.
As part of the Office of Talent Management & Human Resources and the Talent Acquisition team for Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for sourcing top talent to meet current and future hiring needs. This role partners closely with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team to understand talent requirements, develop effective sourcing strategies, and deliver an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience.
Reporting to DAR Talent Acquisition Manager, the ideal candidate will foster a collaborative environment and a strong service-oriented culture, ensuring efficient and high-quality recruitment support internal stakeholders and prospective candidates.
Key responsibilities:
Talent Sourcing & Pipeline Development:
Design and implement innovative sourcing strategies to attract a diverse pool of high-quality candidates using various methods such as job postings, employee referrals, online job boards, databases, LinkedIn recruiter, career fairs, and proactive networking.
Continuously build and maintain a pipeline of potential candidates through market research and relationship management.
Recruitment Management:
Lead end-to-end recruitment efforts, including developing tailored strategies with hiring managers, conducting in-depth screenings, interviews, and guiding candidate preparation.
Conduct thorough candidate screening and assessments to align experience with the specialized skill sets required for various roles in DAR. Maintain engagement with candidates throughout the search process, including identifying future opportunities for strong candidates who were not selected for the current role.
Manage multiple recruitment efforts simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.
Lead and manage offer negotiations, ensuring competitive and equitable compensation packages while balancing candidate expectations and organizational guidelines.
Evaluate the effectiveness of sourcing channels and adopt new methods to improve candidate flow and overall ROI.
Candidate & Stakeholder Experience:
Ensure a positive experience for all candidates throughout the recruitment process by maintaining clear and consistent communication.
Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, providing insights and best practices on recruiting strategies.
Partner with internal marketing and communications teams to ensure job postings, recruitment materials, and the organization's digital presence reflect the employer brand.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance:
Recommend and implement improvements to recruitment processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and candidate experience.
Ensure recruitment practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies.
Participate in special projects and initiatives, such as optimizing candidate experience, improving interview techniques, and leveraging internal talent pipelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field.
Three years of related experience that demonstrates a progressive and pro-active approach to the recruitment of talent. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Preferred Qualifications
Experience recruiting in a development and/or alumni relations environment
Proven success in a sourcing both active and passive candidates through various channels
Strong consulting, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Creativity and resourcefulness in developing recruitment strategies and solving challenges
Ability to research, analyze, and interpret data to inform decision-making
