The Assistant Director of Grounds will ensure safe, attractive, and pleasant surroundings during all weather conditions by planning, directing, organizing, and supervising the daily activities of the grounds department including general work, design, maintenance, training, development, and evaluation of the grounds staff. This position will oversee all projects and construction management related to campus landscape, design, and maintenance.

We’re looking for candidates who have:
Four or more years of proven experience in grounds maintenance, landscape construction, or similar area.
Supervision experience and demonstrated ability to lead and be a part of a team.
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
High goal and outcomes orientation; demonstrated self-starter;
Appreciation for and commitment to ongoing professional development.
Understanding and use electronic communication and computer information systems.
Ability to communicate effectively. Exceptional interpersonal skills; aptitude for initiating and building relationships.
Key Job Duties

In this role, the Assistant Director of Grounds supports the mission of the University by exemplifying Christ-like character as they work to make the CCU campus a safe and beautiful environment for students, faculty, staff, and constituents.
Responsible for work order ownership from initial receipt, including all communication, to completion.
Create zone locations for campus landscape maintenance and manage staff to care for each.
Supervise student employees by showing Christ's love as an example of hard work and Christ-like character.
Comply with safety guidelines and other policies as established by Colorado Christian University and other governmental authorities.
Create service contracts with all grounds-related vendors, manage quality control and vendor conduct on campus.
Responsible for campus landscaping, plant material and location, sidewalks, parking, and roads. Also works with signage, exterior seating, and trash receptacles.
Works with the Director of Facilities in project management, communication with the University, grounds maintenance oversight, and goal setting.
Responsible to complete scheduled cleaning and preventative maintenance on irrigation and grounds equipment.
Responsible for the following lawn and grounds care:
mowing, trimming, pruning, weed control, planting
irrigation systems, and controls
parking lot and sidewalk maintenance
equipment operation, including truck and hydraulic plow, tractor, large deck mowers, snow blower, skid steer and loader, small engine tools, gator, and golf carts
exterior signage care and install, inventory control, materials inventory, pest control, and preventive maintenance
operations assistance.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
