Kutztown University is seeking a dedicated Digital Accessibility Coordinator/Analyst to lead the institution's digital accessibility program and transformation initiatives while fostering an inclusive digital environment. The ideal candidate will be the university?s primary expert in digital accessibility technology and digital transformation responsible for program/project management, remediation coordination, training, and technical assistance to ensure that the university meets the current accessibility compliance guidelines while improving overall efficiency. This position also researches, recommends, and partners with others to implement systems, procedures, processes, and policies that support and enhance digital accessibility and digital transformation.
The successful candidate will assess and deploy accessibility and assistive technologies, conduct regular accessibility audits, and guide remediation efforts for digital assets. Additionally, the role will develop and deliver training on digital accessibility technology to faculty, staff, and students. This position is instrumental in supporting digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and user experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
Accessibility Audits: Conduct regular accessibility audits, using automated and manual testing tools, to identify digital accessibility compliance issues.
Community of Practice: Leads the Digital Accessibility Community of Practice (COP), engaging departmental digital accessibility liaisons to adopt and implement digital accessibility practices.
Consulting: Provide guidance to faculty and staff on digital accessibility design practices, including using digital accessibility tools, and implementing universal design principals. Address faculty and staff requests related to accessible online course materials and other digital content.
Digital Accessibility Compliance Leadership: Oversee the university?s digital accessibility program ensuring compliance with the current digital accessibility standards, and other relevant regulations and best practices. Collaborate with stakeholders to align digital accessibility efforts with institutional goals.
Digital Transformation: Supports digital transformation initiatives, leveraging emerging technologies to streamline processes, enhance user experiences, and improve operational efficiency and accessibility across the organization.
Documentation & Resources: Partner with Disability Services Office to develop and maintain comprehensive resources, such as accessibility guidelines, checklists, and step-by-step guides to assist stakeholders in the creation and maintenance of accessible content.
Project Management: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing project activities for the university-wide digital accessibility compliance and related remediation efforts.
Remediation: Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors, as needed, to prioritize and implement digital accessibility remediation, collaborating closely with stakeholders to address issues efficiently and accurately.
Stay Informed on Accessibility Trends: Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and accessibility regulations to ensure the university?s practices remain up to date.
Technology Evaluation: Lead the digital accessibility evaluation of proposed technologies ensuring accessibility compliance with the current accessibility standards. Partners with stakeholders to assess, recommend, and implement assistive technologies, including screen readers, text-to-speech software, speech recognition tools, and other adaptive solutions.
Training & Education: Develop and deliver university-wide training on digital accessibility practices.
Bachelor?s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Instructional Design, Disability Studies, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
Knowledge of digital accessibility guidelines, and related accessibility standards.
Experience with digital accessibility and/or assistive technology.
