START is a public bus service provided by the Town of Jackson and Teton County. The START system is overseen by a seven-member Joint Powers Board and is funded partially by the Town of Jackson, Teton County, and the federal government. START operates year?round service on six fixed public bus routes. While the intensity of the commuter, corridor, and circulator routes vary by season, its annual ridership exceeds one million individuals.

START’s Transit Director provides professional oversight of all transit functions for the Town of Jackson and Teton County including departmental compliance, policy recommendations to elected and appointed board, and involvement in all stages of grant work and strategic planning in coordination with the Regional Transportation Planning Administrator. The Transit Director provides significant professional contributions to the Town Manager’s staff-level leadership team.
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, transportation planning, or related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in mass transit field with supervisory duties is required. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a related field. Candidates may possess any combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates their ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
