The Department of Engineering Education (https://eed.osu.edu/) at The Ohio State University invites applications for a Lecturer appointment to teach multidisciplinary design capstone engineering course sequence. Qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the level of Senior Lecturer.
Position Overview
We are currently seeking applicants from all engineering backgrounds for the position of full-time Lecturer to teach in multidisciplinary design engineering course sequence beginning in August 2025 for the 2025-26 academic year and continuing based upon performance and enrollment. Well qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the level of Senior Lecturer.
Multidisciplinary Capstone (MDC) program is an integrated two course design sequence. The two-semester sequence allows senior students from all engineering disciplines to work together on an industry-sponsored capstone project. The program has broadened its scope to also attract Engineering Science minor students from all disciplines. The program is aiming to continue to grow its enrollment, attract new industry sponsors, and provide an entry point for potential department and institutional investors. All courses are taught in person on the Universitys main campus in Columbus, Ohio.
The MDC course sequence includes instruction on a design process, project management, professional communication and teamwork. Student teams consisting of both engineering and non-engineering students complete an open-ended sponsored project with mentoring from the instructional team. Developing students problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills is essential in the success of this course sequence. Giving both informative and summative feedback on student work is essential for the program and student success. In addition to class instruction, attendance is required at weekly student team meetings, orientation, and any department/program meetings or events. As a co-worker with MDCs director, co-instructor(s), graduate teaching associate(s) and faculty advisors, a spirit of teamwork and initiative is essential.

Education and Experience Requirements
Required
* Masters degree in engineering or relevant field or equivalent experience
* A passion for teaching undergraduate engineering students
* Experience in teaching or practicing engineering design, teamwork and project management
* A demonstrated ability to mentor students
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A demonstrated ability to collaborate with fellow instructors, graduate teaching associates, faculty advisors and sponsors
Desired:
* PhD in engineering or relevant field or equivalent experience
* Professional experience in an engineering role or equivalent
* Experience teaching in a learning setting including, but not limited to, K-12 classroom experience or higher education teaching as an instructor of record or graduate teaching assistant
* A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching that reflect Ohio States Shared Values
