Position Information: The UC Riverside Center for Simulated Patient Care (CSPC) is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to enhancing medical education through realistic, hands-on simulation experiences. It provides students and healthcare professionals with opportunities to practice clinical skills, decision-making, and patient interaction using advanced technology, including computerized manikins, task trainers, and audiovisual tools. The center supports innovative teaching methodologies to improve patient care and outcomes while fostering a safe, controlled environment for learning and assessment.
The Senior Simulation Operations Specialist (SSOS) at UC Riverside School of Medicine supports the Center for Simulated Patient Care by managing simulation events, maintaining and repairing equipment, and providing technical and educational assistance. They oversee inventory, develop maintenance schedules, create evaluations, and track data for Clinical Skills and Doctoring courses. Additionally, the SSOS implements Standard Operating Procedures, develops training resources, and supports staff and faculty in adopting simulation methodologies.
Please note, this is a contract position with a contract length of 1 year from date of hire.
The full salary range for the Sr. Simulation Operations Specialist is $30.80 - $54.74 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position up to $42.77 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Bachelor's degree in a Healthcare related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Minimum of 4-7 years of healthcare simulation experience

Department Custom Scope Under the supervision of the Director for Simulation Operations, the Senior Simulation Operations Specialist (SSOS) is expected to provide administrative, educational and technical support for the Center for Simulated Patient Care (CSPC) at UC Riverside, School of Medicine.
SSOS will be responsible for overseeing simulation events, including the preparation (set up and tear down), operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers and audiovisual equipment. They will help to develop and maintain inventorial equipment records, inventory policies, and maintenance schedules to ensure that equipment and supplies are managed in a cost-effective way. The SSOS will assist with the creation of evaluations and surveys in order to gather and track relevant data and outcomes for the Clinical Skills and Doctoring courses. They will also be responsible for creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for assigned tasks, as well as assisting with the adoption of simulation methodologies by creating training resources and supporting other staff and faculty in the use of simulation technology. Interviews and assesses client requirements for instructional technology and advises on appropriate technology to meet specific instructional activities. Provides consultative advice to clients on technical, media methods, techniques and equipment in order to enhance the quality of the presentation. Advises users on technical options. Plans and consults regarding the installation of new equipment and equipment upgrades.
Provides support for Clinical Skills I and II simulation activities by assisting staff and faculty with selecting the appropriate simulation modality for each activity. Helps to implement simulation based educational activities by providing direct support, training, maintenance, and replacement of equipment as needed.

Applies appropriate data collection methods to develop technical requirements for events and instruction. Develops standards, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent service delivery to clients. Develops user documentation, process improvements, or system design requirements. Coordinates special programs and projects in AV or instructional technology field, including media production, teaching with technology or web distribution. Works with a wide variety of media technologies, networks and computer hardware and software, applying appropriate solutions to non-standard problems.
Coordinates the collection and management of student performance and evaluation data related to simulation-based activities within the Clinical Skills and Doctoring courses. Provides administration and support related to the SimCapture and RQI systems, and any other systems developed or deployed in the future for use in the Center for Simulated Patient Care (CSPC). Manages the CSPC calendar, assigning appropriate space, resources, and staff to simulation events.

Applies project management concepts in combination with AV IT policies and procedures in determining technical support work flow. Analyzes and interprets intellectual property (IP) policy and law and ensures that media meets IP requirements. Evaluates external content for compliance with unit and content posting standards. Coordinates the creation and development of standard operating procedures for the Clinical Skills and Doctoring courses supported by the Center for Simulated Patient Care.
