Position Summary:
The Business Information Systems department at Central Michigan University invites applicants with credentials in professional or business communication for an assistant or associate rank, tenure-track position to begin in August 2025. Responsibilities include teaching courses in business/professional communication (undergraduate and graduate), carrying out an active research agenda, and engaging in university and professional service.
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in professional communication, business communication, technical communication, digital media, or a related area is required. ABD candidates will be considered; full completion of the degree is required prior to the start date of the appointment.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with a teaching philosophy consistent with the colleges learning-centered and business-connected mission are strongly preferred, with demonstrated scholarly activity commensurate with experience. Preferred candidates will be able to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: visual communication, intercultural communication, social media, or digital media. Relevant industry experience and research in emerging areas is desirable. Key expertise sought includes the ability to engage domestic and international students in face-to-face, blended/hybrid, and online formats.
