The Structure Literacy and Math Teacher is a dedicated, compassionate, energetic professional who delivers a comprehensive, structured literacy program to students with language-based learning differences in grades 3-5.
Lower School Structured Literacy and Math Teachers deliver explicit, multisensory, systematic, cumulative, prescriptive, and diagnostic instruction utilizing either the Orton-Gillingham Approach or the Wilson Reading System Curriculum and a school-aligned math curriculum.
Maintain a high level of reading and math program fidelity that includes lesson planning, program implementation, progress monitoring, and assessment.
Maintain student growth and performance records by collecting and analyzing student data
Utilize formative and summative data to plan and adjust instruction.
Routinely communicate progress to the student's academic team, including classroom teachers, content area teachers, speech & language pathologists, occupational therapists, and the Dean of the division.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create a positive, emotionally responsive, developmentally appropriate, inclusive classroom culture and school community.
Develop highly engaging, motivating, well-paced, multisensory lessons and curricula.
Provide individualized differentiation, accommodations, and modifications.
Deliver all components of explicit instruction strategies.
Implement evidence-based special education strategies.
Integrate PCS executive function organization routines into daily instruction.
Collaborate with team members to develop well-designed instruction and assignments.
Monitor and evaluate student growth and performance.
Create individualized student learning plans and goals.
Record and update grades weekly using the digital gradebook.
Maintain accurate student attendance records.
Write student progress reports.
Collaborate with team members to develop well-designed instruction and assignments.
Collaborate and communicate regularly with families regarding student’s progress and well-being.
Integrate educational technology into the curriculum and provide assistive technology accommodations as needed.
Participate in meetings, professional development training, and committees.
Participate in accreditation activities and school-wide initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor’s Degree.
Teaching Credential (Education Specialist, Special Education, Reading Instruction, Math or related certification).
Certification or in-process of certification in The Wilson Reading System (Level 1 or higher) or The Orton-Gillingham Approach (Classroom Educator, Associate Level or higher).
Minimum of 3 years teaching structured literacy or lower school math.
Preferred
Special Education experience.
Master’s degree in special education, teaching, linguistics, literacy, or a related ?eld.
