The Lead Architect’s role at Purdue is an exciting opportunity to build at several levels of scale and complexity within a challenging university setting. About Us:
The Campus Planning and Architecture unit is responsible for the campus planning process, architectural and landscape design standards, aesthetics, the development and implementation of the Sustainability Strategic Plan for Physical Facilities and sustainable design standards for facilities and infrastructure.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience Required:
A bachelor’s degree in architecture, planning, or a related field required
A minimum of four (4) to five (5) years of experience with detailing and specifying architectural building systems
Experience applying ADA requirements within a variety of space types and at varying scales
Experience with planning principles, strategies, and projects including programming, architectural design, and interior design
Experience with project management of initiatives in support of the implementation of short- and long- term strategic goals within a complex, matrixed organization
Project management experience should include coordination, running meetings, developing meeting minutes/notes, multiple forms of communication, ability to synthesize information and data into management briefings, managing project schedules, and meeting leadership expectations for implementation
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
Preferred:
Master's degree
Able to be registered Architect in the State of Indiana
Experience working in a higher education context
LEED Accredited Professional credential
Skills Needed:
Capacity to meet with university end users to identify space and furnishing scope/needs
Excellent writing capabilities
Computer mastery of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and AutoCAD (InDesign Preferred). Sketchup and Revit ability desired
Ability to:
manage and successfully coordinate multiple projects of varying size and complexity, and ability to modify or adjust priorities.
develop, implement, and adjust action plans, including the creation of space and furniture test fits, for implementation of priority initiatives, including product exploration and research
leverage available resources to maximize impact on campus
think critically, synthesize complex data, draw conclusions, and make strategic recommendations, especially for small departmental FFE requests (paint/flooring/furniture selections)
synthesize information and data into management briefings, managing project schedules, and meeting leadership expectations for implementation
assist a more senior architect in design and technical process for medium and large projects
work with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds
recognize and evaluate problem situations and recommend corrective action
act as a liaison between multiple stakeholders with diverse agendas
