Job Overview
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class healthcare professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
The fast-growing Department of Biostatistics, Health Informatics and Data Sciences is seeking a full-time physician, fellowship trained in Clinical Informatics, to improve system services, promote maximum efficiency of health information technologies and implement best practices to enhance the productivity of clinical systems. Collaborating with faculty across the health system, the successful candidate will apply their expertise to advance the departments? strategy and research efforts through collaboration, leadership, and external funding. Rank is commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions
Functions as a consultant and leader to drive digital strategy and inform the design optimization, and enhancement of solutions across the departments.
Collaboratively participates in the selection, implementation, and support of clinical systems and other health information technologies.
Provides education, mentoring and support to staff and learners in the use of technology in order to promote patient safety, quality care, and compliance.
Collaborates with leaders to effectively implement information technology solutions that support clinical care, research, and education.
Keeps up to date on new and current technologies, regulations, and market influences affecting healthcare information management.
Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess the effects of health information technology solutions on clinical care workflows, and pinpoint opportunities to encourage clinicians to use technology effectively to enhance quality of care.
Responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing educational and training programs and services focused on computer skills and competencies in utilizing electronic tools for patient care, quality management, resource optimization, and performance improvement.
Works with cross-disciplinary teams to create innovative techniques for examining and presenting data.
Maintains own funded research program.
Maintains strong publication record pertaining to clinical informatics with faculty, non-physician providers, trainees, etc.
Maintains clinical practice in their field.
Minimum Requirements
Medical Degree (MD or DO).
Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
Board certified or board eligible in clinical specialty.
Active DEA license.
Required Experience
Successful record of research funding.
Strong record of publications.
Experience in mentoring research faculty and trainees.
Demonstrated knowledge of outcomes, research methodology, and implementation.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Optimization of Epic or other electronic medical record functionality experience is ideal.
Performance improvement experience is ideal.
Data driven medical decision making experience is ideal.
