Job Overview
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class healthcare professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
The fast-growing Department of Biostatistics, Health Informatics and Data Sciences is seeking a full-time faculty to establish an independent research program in methodological and collaborative research focused on healthcare and analytics. Collaborating with faculty across the University, the successful candidate will apply their expertise to advance the university?s strategy and research efforts through collaboration, leadership, and external funding. Rank is commensurate with experience.
The Department has strong ties with world-class biostatistics, bioinformatics, clinical informatics and health IT groups at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and UC Health. This environment provides rich collaborative opportunities in data and implementation science with a focus on comparative effectiveness, patient-centered outcomes research, performance improvement, decision support, translational medicine, and biomedical informatics.
Essential Functions
Works with cross-disciplinary teams to create innovative techniques for examining and presenting data.
Maintains own funded research program including grant development, execution, and project management.
Maintains strong publication record pertaining to biomedical informatics.
Acts as a mentor for junior faculty, research associates, and/or graduate students.
Minimum Requirements
Must have obtained a Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in the field.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Must exercise self-discipline and work with little direct supervision.
Possess outstanding leadership skills which demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.
Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Required Experience
Successful record of research funding.
Strong record of publications.
Experience in mentoring research faculty and trainees.
Demonstrated knowledge of outcomes, research methodology, and implementation.
