The Institutional Account Manager is responsible for selling unit dose pharmaceuticals, medical products and services to hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, clinics, retail pharmacies, and other healthcare related businesses. Sells products such as drugs, consumable healthcare commodities, and medical equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for meeting growth percentage in territory as assigned by management.
Travel to defined geographies to cultivate relationships that will improve market saturation in assigned territory.
Contact potential customers at hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, rehab facilities, and nursing homes to sell unit dose pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and equipment.
Set appointments with pharmacists, pharmacy buyers, regional buyers and hospital executives.
Deliver an effective presentation to clinical staff and pharmacists.
Build effective relationships with call points to increase market share.
Provide competitive information such as bid opportunities, pricing data, or health system agreements in order to establish negotiated pricing contracts for assigned products.
Improve product knowledge and sales strategies.
Research competitors, acquire knowledge of competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and business relationship and provide feedback.
Gather, analyze and deliver information from the field to allow the company to develop strategies and products appropriate to the market.
Coordinate all issues with key clients between corporate sales, operations, sales support, customer service, marketing and finance.
Stay informed about the activities of health services in the surrounding area.
Responsible for timely and accurate sales call reporting and expense reporting.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business and/or previous sales experience preferred
Must be self-starter and self-motivator
Ability to collaborate with other staff to deliver required results
Ability to work independently, with little supervision
Knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion
Must be able to multi-task
Strong ability to pay attention to detail
Must have valid driver’s license
Must pass background and drug screen
WORKING CONDITIONS/Physical Requirements
Must be able to travel as required with the ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Work environment usually performed in a home, office or customer setting. Lift and carry product promotional material weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires use of computer, copier, fax, phone and other standard office equipment. Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment. Body motor skills sufficient to move from one location to another
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, during day shift hours. Business meetings and customer activities may occasionally require work be conducted after hours or on weekends.
Travel Travel for this position and will consist of local travel during the business day in addition to out-of-the-area and overnight travel. Travel up to 40-60% should be expected.
