Summary:
Great River Energy (GRE) is seeking an Environmental Administrator to lead and manage environmental projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across various domains. This role requires expertise in SPCC plan management, chemical and waste management, landfill oversight, and supporting environmental management systems (EMS). The successful candidate will possess strong project management skills, a keen attention to detail, and a deep understanding of environmental regulations.
Total Rewards:
A typical starting range for this position is $99,000 - $117,000 + annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Ensure SPCC plans comply with Minnesota and federal regulations, updating them with GRE templates.
Guide transmission teams on containment design, oil handling, and equipment management.
Provide SPCC training and spill response assistance as needed.
Collaborate with transmission teams on substation designs, permitting, and containment plans.
Oversee Phase I and II site assessments with consultants and share findings with project teams.
Support stormwater permitting, drainage designs, and field oversight to ensure compliance.
Lead projects, ensuring they remain within scope, schedule, and budget.
Manage regulated waste, including storage, transportation, disposal, and PCB-containing materials.
Oversee hazardous waste shipments, sign manifests, track chemical inventories, and ensure timely submission of required reports.
Maintain accurate records and compliance with transmission facility requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural sciences, or environmental sciences with a minimum of three years of experience in environmental regulatory compliance, OR
Associate degree in environmental sciences with 5+ years of experience in environmental and compliance roles.
Master’s degree is desirable.
Specific expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Tanks/SPCC/Spill management
Waste management (including hazardous waste)
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
Proven project management skills, including coordination with external consultants, managing budgets and timelines.
Familiarity with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments is a plus.
Experience with landfill operations and regulatory reporting is valuable.
