Position Summary
The Associate Director of Internal Communications plays a pivotal role in developing, editing and distributing stories, campus news and executive communications to WashU Medicineâ™s internal audiences in support of the schoolâ™s strategic initiatives, priorities, brand and reputation. The Associate Director will produce inspiring and engaging communications that inform and motivate faculty, students and staff, with the goal of building community and connections to the schoolâ™s mission, values and culture. The Associate Director will also collaborate with communications partners in the schoolâ™s departments and centers, helping to distribute content assets more effectively and efficiently, and aligning messaging across the school.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan, develop and edit content for internal communications channels to inform and celebrate the WashU Medicine community.
Plan, develop and edit communications, including confidential information, for the dean, the executive leadership team and executive faculty.
Supervise the senior writer for internal and executive communications.
Collaborate with marketing on visuals for internal communications.
Build strong working relationships with communications partners in the schoolâ™s departments and centers to generate story ideas, distribute information and create consistent strategy and messaging.
Serve as a resource for internal communications strategy and best practices.
Work with the Director of Internal Communications to manage team projects and workflows.
Develop communication plans to identify objectives, target audiences, tactics and key messages for WashU Medicineâ™s projects and initiatives.
Track and report newsletter analytics with recommendations on ways to adjust strategy to improve engagement and effectiveness.
Build and publish stories in a content management system.
Build and distribute the WashU Medicine newsletter through the universityâ™s email distribution system.

Salary Range
$75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
