This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded for 1 year from date of hire. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.
Please note we are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst with experience working with a team on building and enhancing custom applications. This is not a Data Analyst/Data Specialist or Business Process analyst.
Reporting to the Director for Aurora Faculty Systems, the Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This role requires a keen understanding of business processes and the ability to translate them into functional and technical requirements for custom software development. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience in project management, and the capability to work collaboratively with both technical teams and business stakeholders. This role will support Administrative Technology Services led projects and initiatives serving constituents in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences with diverse teams and stakeholders.
The Business Systems Analyst is expected to work closely with the user community, fellow team members and technical partners to understand business needs and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage with
business stakeholders to understand their needs and gather detailed requirements and user stories for the development of a new application.
with both the technical team and business stakeholders, facilitating communication and understanding.
Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement through custom software solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and redundancies.
Develop detailed, end-to-end project documentation, including user stories, business process workflows, technical and business requirements, release notes, help text, and user guides.
Participate in and facilitate user acceptance testing and collaborate with end-users to validate functionality.
Assist project director in planning, scheduling, and tracking project progress.
Participate in training strategy and create user guides for new system implementations.
Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for application related issues.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of two years? post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Proven ability to quickly assimilate to new technology and/or applications required.?
Proficiency in using Agile project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Experience with working as a member of Agile teams i.e. Scrum, Kanban in a collaborative environment
Certificates and Licenses
Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
