The Department of Literary Arts at Brown University invites applications for a Bonderman Assistant Professor of the Practice in poetry for Fall 2025-Spring 2027. The department is interested in qualified candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service toward building an equitable and diverse writing and scholarly environment.
The Bonderman Assistant Professor of the Practice positions are two year, non-renewable visiting professorships with full benefits. Candidates should preferably have an MFA or equivalent, a strong publication record in poetry, and demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching poetry at the undergraduate level. We also seek candidates with additional expertise in areas such as hybrid genre, nonfiction, international literature, translation, literary theory, film/video, and/or digital arts. Duties of the position include teaching two undergraduate courses per semester in the literary arts as well as directing undergraduate theses and contributing to the creative and intellectual life of the department through individual and collaborative initiatives.
