Position Summary
The Portfolio Manager I is a key contributor to the new WashU Medicine and BJC Health System joint Center for Health AI. The center will harness the power of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) and fundamentally change the way health care is provided. The center will focus on making care more personalized and effective for patients and more efficient and manageable for physicians, nurses and all those striving to ensure patients receive the very best care.
The Portfolio Manager I supports the chief data scientist in executing the strategic needs of the Center. This role will have active involvement in quality improvement (QI) and research/evaluation projects (including trials) on AI applications and evaluation.
The ideal candidate will promote excellence in all aspects of technology in support of healthcare, research, and education and possess excellent communication skills. In addition, the position must be able to be successful in a dynamic environment, managing highly iterative and constantly changing requirements to enable delivery of desired outcomes, while at the same time being flexible. The ideal candidate will be accountable for execution of portfolio management strategy, ensuring that project progress is tracked and documented in alignment with both institutional and Center for AI Innovation strategies.

The Portfolio Manager I will report to the executive director and the chief data scientist (secondary supervisor). This chief data scientist will provide strategic and scientific input, and the executive director will provide administrative and operational input.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaboration with Director, Portfolio Management, and AI Center leadership, to prioritize and initiate new complex projects, to actively facilitate resolution to issues and to provide escalation for the team when project issues have portfolio-level impacts.
In support of executive leadership, coordination and conduct of other ongoing QI and research studies for the AI Center.
This position will include regulatory management, recruitment, management of data and support for analysis.
Drives longer-term strategy in terms of active support for implementation of AI initiatives (e.g., training support, education).
Assists with other project management activities related to grant submissions (pre-award), budget planning, post-award projects, regulatory management and other personnel support.
Limited administrative support.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
