Description
Pratt Institute is seeking an experienced Facilities Capital Planning Program Coordinator to join our Office of Facilities Management. This is a pivotal role responsible for coordinating and supporting capital projects on our Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses.
The successful candidate will work closely with department leaders, including the Chief Facilities Officer and directors of Maintenance and Operations, Planning and Construction, and Sustainability, to ensure that projects progress smoothly through all stages of the capital planning process-from scoping and design to construction and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for project management, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments, helping Pratt shape its future through capital project development.
Examples of Duties
Manage all stages of the capital planning process, ensuring timely progress from scoping through construction.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including academic leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners, to develop and refine project scopes.
Coordinate the department's capital project portfolio, ensuring smooth transitions through budgeting and construction phases.
Conduct space utilization studies, building systems analysis, and ensure alignment between project design and institutional goals.
Prepare and present updates on budget planning, project status, and progress reports to key stakeholders.
Assist in project scope development for initiatives like deferred maintenance, energy and campus master plans, and strategic initiatives.
Supervise interns and support staff as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, capital planning, or construction management.
Strong understanding of building design and construction processes, ability to read architectural and engineering documents.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with project management software (Procore, e-Builder, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a related field such as Facilities Management, Architecture, or Project Management.
Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large institutional environments.
Familiarity with NYC design and construction approvals and permitting processes.
Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification is a plus.
