Job Description
Metro State University, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management. This is a full-time probationary (tenure-track) position within the Marketing, Supply Chain Operations, and International Business Department and will start on August 18, 2025.
Responsibilities
Faculty members are expected to:
Demonstrate the ability to teach Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Project Management, and/or Business or Supply Chain Analytics courses effectively to a post-traditional student population and contribute to meaningful assessment of student learning.
Engage in scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research.
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study.
Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance.
Engage in service to the university and community.
Demonstrate a commitment to serving a diverse student body by delivering a student-centered education and using approaches that support equitable outcomes for all students.
Provide excellent learning environments through in-person, online, hybrid, and/or HyFlex course modalities.
Minimum Qualifications
A completed terminal degree in the specified discipline(s). (Ph.D. or DBA) from a regionally accredited institution in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, or closely related academic field from an AACSB, ACBSP, or equivalently accredited school. ABDs with expected completion by August 15, 2025 will also be considered.
Demonstrated interest in faculty position that prioritizes teaching and emphasizes teaching excellence.
A plan for scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research in the specified discipline(s), or related disciplines.
Effective communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with students and colleagues who are culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse.
Specific Technical, Computer, and/or Software skills (as needed).
Preferred Qualification
Two years of experience of teaching multi-modal (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, HyFlex, online asynchronous, online synchronous) courses at post-secondary education in supply chain management, operations management, or project management
Demonstrated experience in AI techniques, including teaching and research in machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and large language models
Demonstrated experience using technology-driven teaching methods (e.g., simulations, case studies, hands-on labs)
Demonstrated experience in incorporating appropriate software to teach courses such as Python, R, Excel, SAS, SAP, or MS Project.
Demonstrated experience in developing relationships with industry.
Membership and participation with professional organizations like ASCM, CSCMP, ISM, and PMI.
Minimum of one publication in a refereed journal related to supply chain management, operations management, or project management in the past 5 years.
Proficiency in STEM pedagogy
Demonstrated effectiveness teaching at a post-secondary level
Experience developing course curricula at a post-secondary institution.
Demonstrated contributions to assessment of student learning at a post-secondary institution.
Professional development and/or expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-racist pedagogy, and/or universal design.
Experience as an academic advisor for students at post-secondary institution.

There are three major disciplines in this department ? Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations Management, and International Business ? represent a significant part of an organization?s daily operations. The department is comprised of 8 Resident Faculty members. Separately, each of these three disciplines focuses on a unique set of skills and knowledge that are critical in today?s business environment. Whether pursing a degree in marketing, supply chain and operations management, or international business, our graduates are prepared to create value in any industry from manufacturing and retailing to advertising and marketing agencies, or to global business entities of every type.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and experience and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) Master Agreement.
Employment for this position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement for the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) which can be found at on the Minnesota State Employee and Labor Relations website.
