Description
This role is situated in the department of Math and Science's STEAMplant initiative at Pratt Institute, NY. STEAMplant's mission is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and 'art' as defined by the diverse disciplines pursued at Pratt.
We are seeking a part-time coordinator to oversee the day-to-day management of STEAMplant projects, administration of the initiative's annual open call for proposals, and the running of STEAMplant's social media accounts. You will work with the STEAMplant director, a variety of administrative offices at Pratt Institute, and the successful applicants to the program.
Examples of Duties
Running the project open call
Disseminating the open call to a wide community of potential applicants
Scheduling and running project kickoff meetings
Coordinating paperwork completion between team members and the assistant to the Chairperson of the Math & Science Department
Organization of project events
Organization of the annual Research Open House materials for participating teams
Communicating with team about their progress
Collecting project materials from team members
Updating STEAMplant's website and creating new web pages for projects
Sending out emails to mailing list about relevant project events and open call opportunities
Requesting and reviewing final reports from teams following each project's conclusion
General problem solving for team members who need assistance
Supporting the director in developing fundraising applications
Updating all STEAMplant social media accounts
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated track record in arts and culture coordination and/or management. You will oversee the financial and artistic operations of the project, including administering and advertising the annual open call, applicant correspondence, purchasing, processing reimbursements, website and social media management, and project records in coordination with the assistant to the chairperson of the Math & Science Department. The position requires very strong attention to detail, mindful project management and planning, and experience working with creative professionals, ideally in an institutional setting such as a college/university, educational or arts non-profit, or a museum. The ideal candidate will have experience working with artists, designers, and students, the people skills to address the needs of a diverse set of project team members, and an interest in work at the interface between math/science and art/design.
You will be independent, driven and able to meet deadlines. You will be able to communicate well, have great people skills and a positive can-do attitude.
Supplemental Information
Experience with any form of fundraising and a knowledge of the STE(A)M space is a plus.
