Queensborough Community College invites applications for a Student-Athlete Academic Advising Specialist who will be reporting to the Director of Athletics within the Division of Student Affairs. The Student-Athlete Academic Advising Specialist is responsible for supporting the academic success of student-athletes with an additional responsibility of assisting with military and veteran students enrolled at the College.
Duties and responsibilities include:
-Advise student-athlete population and support them in navigating the prerequisites and courses needed to be on track to meet graduation requirements at QCC.
-Assess student needs, goals, interests, and prior academic experiences to support the implementation of a successful academic plan and degree attainment.
-Serve as Athletics Department game day administrator for select home events.
-Assist with Athletics Department social media management.
-Serve as a liaison to other departments throughout campus.
-Manage an approximate 200 student advisory caseload of students, in addition to student athletes, leveraging advising technology such as Navigate, CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft) Degree Audit, Degree Planner, and other relevant technology.
-Support the advisement and registration of Military, Veterans, and their Dependents.
-Facilitate workshops for students and faculty; assists with other departmental meetings.
-Develop academic degree plans and perform graduation audits.
-Establish and maintain student advisement files; prepare advisement activity reports.
-Responsible for conducting assessment reports on Academy student caseloads.
-Responsible for participation in ongoing training for academic curriculum and advising best practices.
Evening and weekends required as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. A Master's degree can be substituted for two years' of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree preferred.
Experience working within an intercollegiate athletics department.
Experience working with student-athletes, veterans, and diverse populations.
Academic advisement experience in a higher education setting.
Social media management experience.
Experience collaborating with various departments and stakeholders.
Experience speaking and presenting at orientation, workshops, and training events.
Ability to work seamlessly in-person and remotely.,

$64,649 - $70,238.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
