Role as a Senior Planner
As a Senior Planner with Zelinka Priamo, you will have the opportunity to collaborate on a wide variety of planning and development projects with a team of highly experienced planning professionals and technicians. Whether you are interested in intense, urbanized projects, or rural planning, we consistently have a wide variety of projects that encompass the full spectrum of land planning.
Senior Planners serve as project managers for a wide range of projects and development approval applications while also assisting Associates and Partners with projects and deliverables. Day-to-day tasks are a mix of managing other Zelinka Priamo team members to ensure project deliverables, liaison with clients and team members, as well as preparation of various documents such as Planning Justification Reports. A Senior Planner will be expected to work independently, lead a team, and provide assistance to other teams/staff members.

Responsibilities as a Senior Planner
Manage a portfolio of complex planning projects including development applications, liaising with clients, municipal staff, other consultants, and stakeholders.
Provide leadership to other team members when managing projects.
Complete project management of the full range of development approvals under the Planning Act.
Delegate and supervise tasks assigned to other team members.
Assist with the preparation of various reports and designs, including Planning Justification Reports, Due Diligence Reports, and Conceptual Site Plan and Subdivision designs.
Analyze planning policies and regulations, and provide opinions.
Attend meetings with clients and Council, both virtual and in-person, occasionally off-site and/or outside of normal business hours.
Complete tasks within a given timeline and effectively communicate progress on various tasks.
Provide expert evidence and opinion at OLT hearings.
Respond to client inquiries.
Qualifications and Experience
At least five (5) years of experience in land use planning, with preference given to those with private sector experience in Ontario.
Full membership of CIP and OPPI is preferred.
Completion of a University or College planning program.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
Excellent understanding of land use planning legislation, the planning process, and urban design best practices in Ontario.
Thorough understanding and practical use of Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
Demonstrated desire to learn through practical experience.
Preferred valid Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle to travel to meetings.
