Summary of Position
NRECA's communications and marketing department is a central hub of the association and is responsible for shaping external, internal and member communications and marketing efforts. The department works to tell the modern electric cooperative story, positively influence the perception of cooperatives with inside-the-beltway policymakers, elevate the organization's brand and showcase the value of NRECA membership. The communications and marketing team works closely with NRECA's C-suite, and partners with departments across the organization like Government Relations, Business and Technology Strategy, Education, Training and Events, and more. Collaboration, creativity, and passion drive the team to consistently achieve success and help build a better tomorrow for electric cooperatives across the nation.
We are looking to for a creative high performer to support and advance NRECA's social media capabilities. The focus of this position involves proactively developing and executing NRECA's social media strategy across various platforms with an eye towards expanding the Association's reach and its reputation with key beltway audiences. This position works closely with other social media and design experts to deliver impactful results. This position is Hybrid located in Arlington, VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively helps manage NRECA's corporate and grassroots social media accounts.
- Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop relevant social media content to support various campaigns and initiatives.
- Develops editorial calendars and supporting materials that align with overarching strategies with the goal of ensuring that the right content gets in front of the right audience at the right time.
- Track, report and recommend tactics to take advantage of trend and respond to community feedback and comments to management and internal teams.
- Design and edit images and videos in coordination with creative team using editing platforms like Canva.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Political Science or related field.
- 5+ years' experience managing social media in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- 2+ years of experience working on Capitol Hill, political campaigns or advocacy initiatives preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
