Job Description Summary The Institute for Immunology and Immune Health (I3H) at the University of Pennsylvania aims to translate immune data into clinically actionable measurements, drive new discoveries, and shift paradigms of clinical care. I3H combines the brilliance and innovation of UPenn's Immunology and UPHS' first mover position in immune-centric clinical therapy. I3H is seeking Technology and Innovation Manager to oversee and develop the technology and innovation strategies to scale collection of high-dimensional immunological data. This position will report to the Director of Research&Development. The Technology and Innovation Manager will work closely with Immune Health scientists and informaticians to drive technology innovation strategy, identify and develop cutting-edge technologies, and build a team to advance the goal of scaling high-dimensional immunology.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Experimental design and execution: Identify scientific and technological areas that require advancement. Design and execute experiments to test and develop new technologies including scientific assays, equipment, and automation solutions. Support technology in the Translational Research Division as needed.
Strategic leadership: drive the technological innovation strategy, often collaborating with the Translational Research Division and Informatics group to identify cutting-edge technologies. Work with the Director of Strategic Alliance to set the long-term vision for how IH can leverage technology to improve processes and enhance immune profiling. Help evaluate and maintain partnerships with external companies
Project management: Clearly track and communicate stage of technology development, providing accurate timelines. Work with the Translational Research Division to implement new technologies, including platform assays and automation.
Budget and financial management: Plan technology development within the constraints of a yearly budget. Idependently prioritize high-needs technological development needs.
Talent and team building: Hire and manage a team of scientists to support technology development. Foster collaboration between technology development, translational research, and informatics
Internal and external communications:Present experimental results and strategic vision to internal and external stakeholders. Publish manuscripts and present posters describing work. Attend conferences as able.

Qualifications
Masters and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in flow cytometry principles and applications, including multicolor panel design, cell sorting, data analysis software (e.g., BD flow cytometers and sorters, Cytek flow cytometers, FlowJo, Omiq, Cytobank)
Demonstrated experience developing and executing hypothesis-driven proposals, experiments with sound methodology and comprehensive controls, robust analyses and meaningful interpretations
Excellent multi-tasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to write and publish research.
Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential to communicate effectively across the ecosystem of academic researchers, clinical providers, and community partners. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to thrive in a diverse working environment.
Proficiency and comfort with Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) is required.

Pay Range $74,476.00 - $106,940.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
