Description of Department:

The Music Department at SUNY Oswego is part of the School of Communication, Media and the Arts and provides a broad education in musical performance, recording, history, theory, and composition for a student body with diverse interests. We offer two majors: the basic Music B.A. (with Generalist, Performance, and Jazz Studies tracks), and the Music Audio Recording & Production B.A. Our recently renovated spaces include 2 recording studios, an instrumental rehearsal room, choral room, and several shared classrooms and multi-purpose spaces.

The Music Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time position as Assistant Professor of Practice in Audio Recording and Production

Review Date: Review of applications will begin January 15th, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled.

Compensation: $60,000-$62,500 commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Description of Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate audio engineering courses oriented toward multitrack music recording and production, with an emphasis on digital audio workstations (Pro Tools), basic/intermediate MIDI sequencing (Logic Pro), critical listening, and foundational/intermediate/advanced audio recording courses, and other departmental courses as needed. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, and college and university service.

Required Qualifications:

A Master's degree in audio recording and production or a related field is required. Three to five years of documented professional experience in audio recording and production for music are also required.

Preferred Qualifications: It is preferred that candidates have experience teaching in higher education, as well as a music performance background at the professional level.
