Ensures the day-to-day functionality of the assigned area?s operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective to support students working to improve math skills. Works collaboratively with other academic support professionals to develop and enhance services to meet math readiness needs, implement innovative opportunities for students to reach math readiness goals, and increase the overall success rate of students in their mathematics and statistics courses. Works under general supervision and may make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies. The class generally determines work sequences (which task comes first) within any department/divisional guidelines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Ensures the day-to-day functionality of the assigned area?s operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of a department?s/division?s overall programs and/or services. Coordinates programs and processes to support students working to improve math placement levels, identify appropriate placement for students, support students currently enrolled in mathematics and statistics classes, and support those who withdraw from math courses to be better prepared to retake the course.
Collaborates with the department staff to enlist the use of tutors and other related resources to support students? math readiness and performance. Works closely with the YSU Testing Center and department faculty to identify students who need support. Works collaboratively with other academic support professionals to develop and enhance services to meet math readiness needs, implement innovative opportunities for students to reach math readiness goals, and increase the overall success rate of students completing a math course within their first two semesters.
Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of the department?s/division?s overall goals and objectives.
Assists with development of marketing materials and messaging regarding math readiness programs and procedures; provides information to students and university constituents.
Works directly and regularly with students to create individualized plans to meet math readiness goals and monitor progress. Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with the department?s/division?s (or University?s) policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate.
Researches and implements best practices in improving college math readiness. Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review?related to the department?s/division?s programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components thereof.
Attends new student orientation sessions and other relevant events to promote programs. Leads workshops and/or courses to support students to achieve mathematics readiness goals.
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise supervision over student employees.

Skill in: Use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor?s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field; six months or more of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master?s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field by the time of hire. Demonstrated commitment to student success. Familiarity with ALEKS PPL and/or other mathematics placement tools. Experience teaching and/or tutoring mathematics at the college level.
