Temple Grandin School is seeking a dynamic, compassionate English/Language Arts educator to join our team. Position FTE ranges from .6 to 1.0.
The English/Language Arts Teacher is responsible to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in reading, writing, literature, and communication that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. S/he reports to the Academic Team Lead, and works closely with academic and support team members to facilitate positive student engagement in all aspects of the TGS program.

Students & Classroom
4-10 students per class, grades 6-12
Highly engaged, twice-exceptional students
Behavioral support provided as needed by student support team
Curriculum & Teaching
Content-area expertise required: English/Language Arts, middle and/or high school
Content-area expertise preferred: special education; writing instruction including remedial support for students with mild learning disabilities and/or dyslexia; experience working with neurodivergent students; standards-based grading; educational technology

Essential Responsibilities
Essential responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to the following:
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
Complete quarterly progress and semester grade reports using the TGS reporting templates.
Support positive student behavior in the classroom by establishing and following TGS classroom routines and procedures.
Assist students and support team members as needed in identifying and implementing self-regulation strategies to facilitate maximum participation in TGS classes and programs.
Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development in the language arts curriculum, and supporting executive function skills.
Prepare required reports on students and activities.
Participate in academic, all-staff, and parent meetings.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following
Participate in socio-academic programming as requested, emphasizing topics relevant to language arts content and/or personal skills or experiences.
Guide, instruct, and assess students as they complete and present individual Personal Projects using the Personal Projects program (training provided)
Serve as an academic advisor to one or more students as assigned.
Accompany and supervise students on community outings.
Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Director of Academics.

B.A./B.S. degree in education, English/Language Arts, or related humanities field from an accredited institution or related field teaching (M.A./M.S. preferred)
Colorado State certification in teaching in appropriate subject area (or ability to transfer certification from another state)
Working knowledge of the core strengths and challenges that characterize learners on the autism spectrum.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including students, parents, TGS staff, and community partners.
Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain confidential information about students, and limit distribution to those who need to know within the school staff
Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology, including Google Drive and/or Microsoft Office Suite (documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and email management).
