As a member of the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Educational Partnership Center (EPC) provides an array of school centered and student centered activities for students, parents, faculty and community members across the Monterey Bay and Silicon Valley/San Jose regions to support students on the college-going pathway. The EPC coordinates new and long-standing student academic preparation efforts of the University of California, Santa Cruz with the goal of increasing access and opportunity to postsecondary education for students across our service area. The EPC provides support to faculty, staff and outreach groups to work collaboratively with schools, universities and community colleges to promote an educational pipeline for success for all students.
The EAOP and Access projects, both under the umbrella of the EPC, serve under-represented, low-income students with the goal of increasing the participation rate of program/cohort participants in post-secondary education. This EAOP position serves the Pajaro Valley region at Watsonville High School.
Responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of a component of an academic preparation program. Establishes new organizational relationships with K-14 and higher education institutions. Assignments require advanced knowledge of highly complex or technical information. May have supervisory responsibility.
Under the general supervision of the EAOP Assistant Director, the Lead College Facilitator will coordinate and implement EAOP activities and services at assigned schools. They are the primary contact and team leader of EAOP direct services at times supervising one to three college facilitators and several undergraduate interns. The incumbent will plan and lead efforts to increase the number of educationally disadvantaged and/or low-income students who attain eligibility and competitiveness for admission to colleges and universities and provide educational services designed to motivate middle and high school students to prepare academically for higher education. The incumbent will be responsible for providing outreach services at one or more partner middle(s) and/or high school(s) in the designated area and/or surrounding service area. This position will serve Watsonville High School and oversee some of our PVUSD middle school programs.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary:$80,000 - $83,000 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.

JOB DUTIES
55% - K-12 student college access programming
Develop and implement college access programming to K-12 students.
Provides leadership for the design and implementation of college preparation services and culture to a district, including training K-14 school district faculty and staff.
Plans and organizes a set of district-wide or regional college-going events and activities.
Travel between district school sites when needed for events, meetings, trainings etc.
Provides complex academic advising.
Develops customized student academic plans to ensure post-secondary admission eligibility.
20% - School and community partnership
Develops partnerships/networks with K-12, higher education institutions, and community organizations.
Provides leadership in strategic and program planning efforts. Maintains up to date knowledge of K-12 and higher education polices and issues, assesses their impact on program strategies, and disseminates information to school site and district personnel.
Organizes meetings with school site personnel and service providers regarding major whole school, district and regional efforts. Travel between district school sites when needed for events, meetings, trainings etc.
25% - College access program grant management
Manages program components and activity budgets.
Assists with fundraising and proposal writing.
Assists in recruitment and hiring of professional, student, and/or temporary staff.
Act as supervisor for professional and student staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Comprehensive experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Advanced knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population. Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid and scholarship requirements, and matriculation processes.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
Ability to develop outreach programs, and design effective materials.
Advanced knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
High-level skills in communicating clearly and effectively in writing.
High-level skills in communicating clearly and effectively verbally.
Advanced knowledge of issues facing low-income, first generation youth.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple critical projects with deadlines. Strong project management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience designing, implementing and monitoring academic/enrichment programs or events.
Experience working with EAOP/Access.
Experience working with High School and Middle School students in PVUSD.
Experience advising, coordinating, and implementing College and Career Clubs in PVUSD service schools
