Job Description:
The Physics Department at Syracuse University invites applications for a postdoctoral position to work on the design of the Open Control and Analysis Architecture for Cosmic Explorer, the planned U.S. next-generation gravitational-wave observatory. The successful candidate will play a major role in the architectural design for Cosmic Explorer's digital systems, which extends from the detector control systems to systems for delivering astrophysical events. Candidates with suitable experience may be considered at the research assistant professor level.

Qualifications:
PhD in Physics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.

Job Specific Qualifications:
Experience in one or more of these specific research areas: detector control and diagnostic systems, calibration and timing systems, industrial or scientific digital control systems, realtime networking and operating systems, detector characterization, data analysis.

Responsibilities:

• 80% Research in gravitational-wave detector design.
• 10% Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in gravitational-wave and detector systems research.
• 10% Other duties as assigned.
