The Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Office of the Dean at Ohio University invites applications for the position of Director, Digital Enterprise Collaboratory. The position manages the day-to-day operations of the Digital Enterprise Collaboratory (DEC) with two locations— at the Digital Transformation Center on South Main Street in Dayton, Ohio and on the main campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. This includes administering the use of both facilities which requires qualifying and approving their requests for use. The DEC is a physical-virtual site for conducting digital engineering research, education, and training. The DEC supports digital transformation efforts by allowing industry, academia, and government teams to collaborate through turnkey facilities with access to state-of-the-art digital engineering hardware, software, and videoconferencing capabilities.
The DEC enables users to test and de-risk their digital enterprise solutions outside of their current work environment thereby removing technological and operational barriers. The intent of this position is to develop and implement teaching and training activities that will increase pathways to work in high-tech industries in Ohio. In addition, the position will work with military leaders, academic, and industry partners to seek and secure additional resources, grants, and gifts to support curricular, research, and workforce initiatives in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sector. Responsibilities include: 1. Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
· Provide visionary leadership to advance the mission and goals of the Digital Enterprise Collaboratory (DEC).
· Serve as a senior level expert and consultant to senior internal Ohio University and external officials, including government officials.
· Serve as senior level consultant to the Russ Dean to formulate departmental goals and initiatives to serve the College of Engineering and the DEC.
· Serve as a subject matter expert for internal audiences, including military service branches.
· Foster and maintain strategic partnerships with federal, state, and industry stakeholders to support digital engineering initiatives.
· Drive the development and implementation of strategic plans for the DEC, ensuring alignment with Ohio University's objectives and the needs of the defense department and other partners.
2. Research and Development
· Lead the development of digital engineering research projects, securing funding and partnerships to support these efforts.
· Guide the creation and dissemination of case studies and best practices related to digital engineering.
· Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in digital engineering to ensure the DEC remains at the forefront of the field. 3. Operational Management
· Lead business and operational strategy for the Digital Enterprise Collaboratory (DEC)
· Develop new systems, procedures, and strategy for the DEC and implement these systems/procedures/strategies across 2 geographically dispersed centers.
· Liaise with Ohio IT to ensure compliance with security and operational protocols as required by federal and university policies.
· Lead budget development/planning and staffing for the DEC.
· Manage the physical space and technological infrastructure of the DEC to support ongoing projects and activities. 4. Project and Program Management
· Oversee the execution of key projects and initiatives within the DEC, including digital transformation projects, prototyping, and innovation efforts.
· Ensure timely completion of deliverables and milestones as outlined in project plans.
· Manage resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to support the DEC's operations.
· Track software licenses and manage the procurement, installation, and continued maintenance needed for the DEC operation to avoid expiration and ensure compliance with university and industry standards.
· Develop communications channels by leveraging college and university-level resources to share innovative programs and outcomes. 5. Training and Workforce Development
· Develop and implement training programs for current and future workforce members in digital engineering tools and techniques.
· Collaborate with academic departments to integrate digital engineering concepts into the curriculum.
· Conduct workshops, seminars, and other educational events to promote digital engineering knowledge and skills among students and professionals. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or closely related field by start date of appointment.
A minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
A minimum of 1 year of management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or closely related field. Comp TIA A+, CompTIA Network+ also desirable.
