Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. Reporting to the Director of Marketing in the Division of Communications and External Affairs, the Communications Broadcast & Multimedia Production (CBMP) Specialist is primarily focused on graphic design, creating digital assets for video, web, and social media; collaborating with the staff photographer and videography on projects to support student recruitment, the promotion of college events, faculty and student achievements, athletics, and other college-wide initiatives. The CBMP Specialist will serve as the lead graphic designer mentoring one full-time graphic designer by providing guidance for best practices to ensure projects are completed upon deadlines and with high quality. The CBMP Specialist will be responsible for editing content, reviewing images (graphics, animation, photography, video) to support the Divisions departments and its collective efforts in marketing, communications and external affairs.
The CBMP must be proficient in Adobe Suite Software, Animation software and must have some knowledge of photography, videography and web design to provide on-going editorial, technical, and production support and expertise. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collaborate with all members of the Communications and External Affairs Division including communications staff, social media, marketing, and other divisional staff to manage website content and digital communications to effectively help with student recruitment and retention, community engagement, and to inform the college community about events, college-wide initiatives, and programs;
Edit content, review images (graphics, animation, photography, video) to support the Divisions departments and its collective efforts in marketing, communications and external affairs;
Share and utilize their proficiency in Adobe Suite Software, Animation software to create visual elements for website, social media, printed materials, digital communications and marketing and external affairs announcements;
Support in developing content for the College???s digital signage system (Yodeck software);
Coordinate and help marketing calendars, production schedules, deadlines, and collaborate with external vendors as needed;
Share and utilize their knowledge of photography, videography and web design to provide on-going editorial, technical, and production support and expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
Experience with design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Canva
Demonstrated experience in graphic design using both traditional and computerized techniques.
Demonstrated experience in computer animation, using techniques to incorporate multiple languages and visuals for educational purposes.
Knowledge of Internet/Intranet programming including web design and layout.
All aspects of professional video production including camera work, editing, and other production and postproduction function is a plus.

Works closely with management to understand and produce effective message elements
Creates and aligns various communication work products such as video, digital formats, layouts, graphics, web pages, and microsites to ensure consistency and effective messaging
Assesses, enhances and manages the user experience on digital platforms including social media
Collaborates with graphic designers, webmasters, and other information technology professionals to create comprehensive broadcast and multimedia communications
Procures required internal and external resources and services and manages their utilization
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$70,238 - $79,188
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
