The Department of Music in the School of the Arts, Media + Culture (SAMC) is seeking an innovative leader for a full-time tenure-track position in Music Composition, beginning August 1, 2025. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. or equivalent, and be a successful composer current in both acoustic and digital applications. The position will have shared responsibilities in developing and sustaining innovative programming to serve both the Music Department and the Game Development program, teaching in a variety of areas from music theory to composition to arts/music entrepreneurship. Additional expertise in instrumental ensemble leadership would be valuable.
SAMC Music is a small and dynamic undergraduate department that enjoys an interdisciplinary relationship with the school’s other departments. SAMC faculty are active scholar-creatives and teachers with a strong commitment to mentorship, often engaging students in their scholarship and research. The successful applicant will be a mature and dedicated Christian, with a clear integration of their faith with the academic/creative discipline of music, and able to inspire students towards maturity in the development and use of their talents and skills. The successful candidate will complement our current expertise in choral music, digital recording, and applied instruction, where we have particular strengths in voice and piano.
