The Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Business Project Coordinator - Coding that will support the management team by providing administrative and supervisory support to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the department. The ideal candidate will provide ideas and solutions to all projects as well as maintain a portion of the duties of a certified coder. A successful candidate will be pivotal in assisting the department in accomplishing the goals, and initiatives in the department.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for reviewing Epic work queues daily as identified by the Sr. PUM.
Work with Sr. PUM and faculty to identify needs, coordinate processes and oversee projects to completion.
Prepare special reports needed to report to leadership needs and concerns.
Maintain confidentiality and professional integrity with privileged information.
Assist the Sr. PUM with problem-solving issues and concerns that will impact the coding workflow of the department.
Responsible for answering coding denials, edit-related questions, and provide guidance disseminating information regarding coding-related denial concerns as necessary.
Perform charges corrections under the direction of the Sr. PUM.
Perform refund/rebill logs at the direction of the Sr. Administrative Manager for compliance.
Assigns and performs Incentive Audits for the coding staff.
Continue the tasks and responsibilities of a coding specialist
Assist in training staff.
Participate in meetings and conference calls.
Audit team members to maintain quality of work.
Stay abreast of coding guidelines (attending webinars and providing updates from websites).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.
Three years related experience with some project management experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Certified Professional Coding (CPC) certification required, with additional certification as Auditor (CPMA), Approved Instructor or other specialty (CANPC, CEMC, CIC, COC) strongly desired.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Epic EHR and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, strong attention to detail, capable of meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
Excel at demonstrating effective communication and customer service skills.
Some experience supervising others.
Experience in Anesthesia Coding & Documentation requirements is highly preferred.
