Job Description:
The State University of New York (SUNY), the nation's largest and most comprehensive system of public higher education, invites applications for the position of Senior Staff Associate for Student Services in the office of the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD) in Albany, New York. The mission of UCAWD is to promote the social and economic well-being of the academically and economically underserved residents of the State of New York by developing and maintaining quality education and workforce training programs and services through our Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs) and Advanced Technology Training And Information Networking (ATTAIN) labs.
Working as part of a professional team, the Senior Staff Associate for Student Services is responsible for supporting policies and strategies that relate to Student Support for all UCAWD programs (EOC and ATTAIN) and services. The Senior Staff Associate for Student Services is responsible for analyzing reports; recommending and coordinating strategies that will improve overall enrolment and student persistence.
Reporting to the Director of Student Services, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Assist in the development of standardized policies and procedures consistent with SUNY System Administration's colleges and universities, CUNY colleges and universities, and the Research Foundation for SUNY policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the Student Services team in the development of long- and short-term goals which are consistent with UCAWD's goals and objectives.
Partner with the ATTAIN Project Manager in the development of ATTAIN meetings, conferences or professional development opportunities.
Monitoring program effectiveness based on data from the management systems in ATTAIN and EOC.
Work with Program Managers to monitor and track ATTAIN monthly report submissions.
Work with the Director of Student Services to monitor and track Program Year Plan.
Work with the Director of Student Services to develop marketing and public relations materials/publications.
Work with the Director of Student Services to review and develop outreach and engagement practices and workflows.
Collaborate with UCAWD and field staff/administrators to identify support needs and recommend and/or implement strategies for improvements.
Support the Director of Student Services with convening regular statewide meetings with EOC and ATTAIN staff.
Establish and maintain relationships with student services' professionals at the various EOCs.
Assist with the development, implementation, and the tracking of wrap around services designed to support participants academically or socially.
Provide research assistance as to best practices to support student success.
Assist with the development of various reports documenting student success.
Serve on UCAWD committees as requested by the Director of Student Services.
Assists in ensuring that Title IX obligations are met at EOC's.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in higher education, counseling, administration or related area.
Minimum of five years professional experience with increasing responsibility in an educational or business setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to function without extensive task-by-task supervision.
Proficiency in utilizing current technologies, social media and computer business applications.
Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, student support and evaluation.
Statewide travel required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and work deadlines, and ensure timely follow-up. Experience evaluating programs.
Experience developing and student success policies and procedures.
Project management, grant writing and public relations experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with adult programs and diverse populations;
Ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically communities.
Familiarity with educational learning management systems, student management and reporting systems such as D2L, Blackboard, Canvas, Schoology, Banner and Argos.
Additional Information:
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $75,000-$93,000 annually.
This position is Senior Staff Associate (SL-5) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
