New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering 58 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a Transfer Credit Evaluator in the STAR Center (Transfer Student Center).
The Transfer Credit Evaluator will process transfer credits and incorporate the courses into the transfer equivalency tables. Additionally, the job involves meticulous checking, reviewing, and verifying the inventories of transfer institutions. The principal responsibilities include assessing students' transcripts, providing personalized reports of transferred credits, and counseling them on awarded transfer credits. The evaluator oversees compliance with all University transfer policies and advises faculty and staff on how to apply for transfer credit appropriately. The Transfer Credit Evaluator also uses technical proficiency with computer systems and digital applications to build electronic files and update student records.
Reporting to the Director of STAR, the Transfer Credit Evaluator will:
Review transcripts, placement test scores, AP, CLEP, IB, and other advanced placement documents for authenticity and adequate credits for course equivalencies, implementing the College's established policies and procedures for transferring prior college and military credits, and ensuring compliance with the College???s, Federal, and New York State regulations and policies.
Apply transferable credits to students??? accounts that can fulfill general education and program requirements.
Perform unofficial transfer credit evaluations for prospective applicants and advise them on pre-transfer course recommendations.
Record and enter prior transfer credit data, including college coursework, approved credentials/certifications, military credit, and college-level exams, into CUNYfirst promptly; review the accuracy of credits entered and modify as necessary.
Collaborate with academic advisors, academic departments, and the transfer credit specialist to maintain transfer course equivalency rules in CUNYfirst and the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) for non-CUNY institutions.
Provide information to the appropriate parties about the status of individual students' transfer credits. Receive, maintain, and relay information regarding the academic background of transfer students to the appropriate parties.
Maintain student information databases and resolve issues with student records.
Provide training and oversight of College Assistants, Academic Advisors, and other personnel in the Transfer Services Office as needed.
Consult on-campus faculty program area specialists for advice as needed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
The flexibility to work evenings and weekends as assigned is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior administrative experience in higher education, and in particular, experience with student recruitment, and/or a working knowledge of principles of university transfer credit practices, are highly desirable.
In consultation with the Transfer Credit Evaluator Lead, the ability to interpret and apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist
Strong attention to detail with strong research, writing, and analytical competencies.

Creates and updates content for web pages, bulletins, and other media to ensure effective communications to students and campus community
May supervise clerical and/or part-time staff and coordinate work schedules

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$47,861-$57,517. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
