In 1990 the Village Veterinary Clinic (established in 1968) was purchased by Dr. Mark Liberto, a Maryland native. His vision was to bring what was Gaithersburg’s first small animal hospital into the 21st century, offering advanced diagnostics like ultrasound and radiology and complicated surgical procedures typically only provided by specialists. He hoped to ensure that as many pets as possible were able to receive high quality services at reasonable costs, and rechristened the Lake Forest Animal Hospital.
Today, we have significantly expanded both our client base and our range of services and medical capabilities while maintaining a personal and individualized experience. We pride ourselves on establishing good relationships with our clients, which helps us understand a pet’s environment and the level of treatment owners are able to provide in the home. We often train clients one-on-one to help ensure pets receive the best care, both while in our facility and at home.
We routinely perform cardiac and abdominal ultrasounds as well as digital radiography for non-invasive diagnostics, oftentimes utilizing these resources to perform an extensive range of surgical procedures. We still refer patients with advanced cases to specialists in the area and maintain a good relationship within our veterinary community. We frequently tag-team cases to ensure complex cases are seen by experts in the field while offering supplemental and diagnostic checkups at affordable costs. For healthy patients, or those with chronic health concerns, we routinely offer wellness checkups, vaccinations, and standard medical care to local pets.
In line with our vision for providing state-of-the-art medical care, we are excited to have finished renovating and expanding our original building. Initially 2900 square feet, the new facility has transformed to a 7500sq ft building filled with the most up-to-date equipment. Our goal is to continue providing a high standard of medical care at a greater capacity, while maintaining our personalized and compassionate relationship with clients and their beloved pets.
