The Northeastern University's Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor with a focus on Computer Engineering. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track position at the Northeastern University Seattle campus. Appointments are made on an annual 8-month basis, with salary commensurate with experience.
Northeastern University teaching professors are non-tenure track with potential for promotion from Assistant Teaching Professor to Associate Teaching Professor and to Full Teaching Professor. Full-time teaching professors are not eligible for tenure. Non-tenure-track faculty have renewable appointment terms guided by the Faculty Handbook.
The Northeastern University ECE programs at the Seattle campus currently include two concentrations of the MS in ECE. The program started in Fall 2023 and currently includes over two dozen students. Expansion of other undergraduate and graduate programs is planned, starting in Fall 2025. Candidates would join a department of over 120 tenure-track and non-tenure-track teaching faculty, as well as several affiliated and visiting faculty.
The position of Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching professor entails educational interaction with students in roles including, but not limited to, traditional instruction (lecture courses, lab courses), curriculum development, and student advising. The main responsibility of this position is teaching Computer Engineering classes. The annual teaching course load is six courses, with the potential for teaching more than one section of a course in the same semester, over Fall and Spring semesters. Courses may be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professors are also encouraged to pursue scholarly research on both educational and pedagogical topics as well as in their technical area of expertise, and they will have the opportunity to supervise graduate students.
A PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related areas, with teaching experience, is required by employment start date.
Candidates should have experience with a range of Computer Engineering subareas, which may include computer programming, algorithm design, digital logic design, computer architecture and robotics. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
The expected hiring range for Assistant Professor is USD $113,812 to $130,707 based upon the position's scope and responsibilities. The expected hiring range for Associate Professor is USD $123,139 to $159,722 based upon the position's scope and responsibilities. The expected hiring range for Professor is USD $151,020 to USD $240,956 based upon the position's scope and responsibilities.

Teaching Statement & Philosophy: Statement of Teaching Interests & Philosophy: Please summarize your past instructional and mentorship expertise, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students. Include a section discussing educational scholarship that you would conduct as part of your efforts in instruction and/or working with students.
