Install, remodel, maintain and repair systems for heating/cooling water hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and steam systems within power houses, distribution systems and buildings to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
Successful completion of a registered steamfitter apprenticeship program approved by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
Must possess and maintain an applicable refrigeration license or be able to obtain this license within 6 months of start date.
Demonstrate skills in diagnosing and repairing steam/hot water heating systems, ventilation, air conditioning, chillers, refrigeration systems, and direct digital controls.
Evidence of strong customer skills.
Maintain a valid driver's license that permits Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights up to 50 lbs.
Ability to utilize a computer for Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Excel, and Word
Successful completion of a post-offer employment test.
Preferred:
Experience working in an educational environment.
Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys control system software.

A criminal background check will be completed on final candidates. The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer employment test and hold a valid driver's license to obtain Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles. A six-month probationary period is required.

Starting rate of pay is $45.36 to $46.82 per hour, depending on leave time selected, plus benefits.This position includes University of Wisconsin State Benefits in addition to the rate of pay.
Vacation, earn 12-22 day per year based on election, unused hours carry over until the end of the following fiscal year.
