Gifford Medical Center is seeking a Full time Radiologist to work in our Randolph, VT critical access hospital.
Gifford's digital imaging department combines highly skilled, multi-modality trained and certified staff with state-of-the-art technology. Equipment includes a mobile 1.5T wide-bore MRI scanner; a 128 slice GE CT scanner; Hologic digital tomosynthesis mammography with dedicated workstation; 2 GE ultrasound scanners; two digital x-ray rooms; a modern Philips nuclear medicine camera with CT attenuation correction; and Hologic bone density. We use InfinittPACS and their built in Results voice dictation program, as well as MagView for mammography reporting.
The hybrid work schedule is shared by two hospitalemployed radiologists with a 7 on and 7 off rotation, days only. Hours are 8a-5p Monday-Friday and 8a-2p Saturday and Sunday. Teleradiology coverage with preliminary reads is in place after 5pm weekdays and 2 pm on weekends.
Typical volumes are roughly 8-15 CT, 6-8 MRI, 10-15 Ultrasound, 10-15 mammograms, 1-2 nuclear exams and variable plain films of 30-40 a day. CT is the most variable depending on the ED volumes. It is rare to do more than 80-90 cases per day, only 25-30% of which are cross sectional, for a very manageable case load. Diagnostic mammography on-site and averages 6-12 per week. Weekends are usually light volume and do not require sitting at the workstation for the full 6 hours.
In our department, and Gifford as a whole, we are a close-knit, supportive group of staff, technologists, and physicians who take pride in the work we perform for our central Vermont patients and providers. A successful candidate should be a well-rounded general radiologist, comfortable working solo and reading all modalities.
Must be comfortable reading all CT and MR, including Neuroradiology MRI, MRA and CTA as well as MSK MRI and MR arthrograms of the shoulder and hip. Currently we do not perform breast MRI or cardiac MRI or CTA.
Must read mammography and be MQSA certified with ability to read tomosynthesis and perform diagnostic workups. Biopsy skills are desirable as backup, but not required as our breast surgeon currently performs all breast procedures.
Must read at least at least first trimester OB ultrasound and full range of OB/GYN ultrasound skill is preferred including second trimester anatomy scans.
Nuclear cardiac nuclear studies are currently read by radiology and comfort with this is preferred, but not mandatory, as exams can be sent to teleradiology for preliminary readings.
