The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Finance, the incumbent oversees communications and program administration for the Arts Initiative at Columbia University, a pioneering campus venture that connects Columbians with incredible arts experiences on campus and with the larger arts landscape of New York City. Develops and implements communication, outreach, and social media campaigns, including management of the website. Researches, plans, and implements Arts Initiative programming and events. The incumbent works to increase awareness of, and participation in, the Arts Initiative???s programs, services, and events amongst Columbia University students, faculty, and staff. Serves as department representative at events, in rotation with other staff. Performs related duties as assigned, including occasional evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement the communication, outreach, and social media campaigns, including an internal master schedule of all department efforts and content calendar, with the goal of increasing awareness of, and participation in, Arts Initiative programs and events
Research, plan, and implement Arts Initiative programming and events, both on campus and in collaboration with external cultural partners
Maintain high quality customer service for diverse audiences, students, faculty, and staff; foster a collegial and inviting environment that enables everyone to do their best work
Oversee ongoing content curation and updates to the Arts Initiative website; oversee and ensure compliance with style guide
Administer email outreach strategy, including creating and deploying regular email communications, managing lists, and management of the external list management vendor, with a high level of attention to detail
Oversee research and data analytics to inform and improve strategic communications and outreach planning; prepare reporting to aid in the evaluation of programs and events
Serve as Department representative at events, including University orientations, information sessions, and other events as assigned
Maintain Arts Initiative communication and program archives
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor???s degree or its equivalent required.
Three to five years of related professional experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Communications experience in the arts and/or higher education is strongly preferred.
Other Requirements
Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of, or genuine interest in, the arts.
Superior written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to interact with a highly diverse group of constituents both within Columbia University???s campus and with colleagues in the broader performing and visual arts community of New York City.
Must be detail-oriented and highly organized, with excellent judgment and discretion.
Strong working knowledge of software and platforms used to develop, execute, and assess marketing campaigns and materials (Excel, CRM systems, email marketing software such as Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, OvationTix or other box office platform, digital advertising platforms such as Facebook and Google AdWords, etc) is required.
