In coordination with departmental leadership, manages, coordinates, and provides leadership to ensure students receive an enhanced and all-encompassing residential experience. Develops a co-curricular program that focuses on social and educational programs for students living on campus; creates and executes a well-developed training curriculum for resident assistants and other housing staff members, including formal individual professional development opportunities and group in-service training sessions. Stays abreast of global affairs and issues impacting college students in order to remain proactive and impactful in programming approach and educational focus.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises employees; evaluates staffing needs; assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves and/or disapproves requests for leaves; interviews candidates for employment and recommends for hire; evaluates work performance; receives and responds to grievances; provides assistance with the development of unit work procedures and policies; recommends and provides staff development opportunities.
Coordinates residence life program designed to foster student development and enhance community by featuring social and educational programs that focus on diversity and identity, alcohol and drug education, wellness and sex education, fiscal management, conflict resolution, and self advocacy.
Works closely with each academic college and University stakeholders in collaborative partnership to facilitate Living Learning Communities and theme housing initiatives and ensure that the experience provided to students with this membership is meaningful.
Works in partnership with University departments to support special student populations such as international students, student-athletes, and students in the Honors College.
Serves as departmental representative on committees as assigned.
Oversees professional and paraprofessional staff programming model and compiles reports on all programs including topic, attendance, and budget. Serves as programming resource for resident assistants.
Manages programming budget, leads assessment initiatives that are centered in residence life and contributes to long-term vision and planning.
Leads educational initiatives and trainings for staff and students.
Facilitates partnerships and maintains ongoing collaborative relationships with University departments as needed to co-sponsor educational activities and social events on campus.
Serves as liaison to campus community to notify academic and student affairs departments of events and opportunities for involvement; implements a faculty involvement plan.
Develops a thorough training model outlining strategic learning outcomes for student staff including an intensive fall resident assistant training, a winter retreat, a spring new staff orientation, and continual in-service workshops.
Leads organization of student staff seminars and departmental student staff training program following student staff recruitment efforts, covering topics such as specific job responsibilities, time management, communication, programming, community building, and administrative tasks.
Oversees communication of all residence life policy relayed through the resident handbook by maintaining an up-to-date publication on the website.
Participates consistently in senior level on-call rotation.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor?s degree; three or more years of full-time professional experience in housing and/or residence life; two years of graduate assistant experience can be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master?s degree in student affairs or a related field. Post-baccalaureate experience in student programming; experience in training development and implementation; experience working in a public-private partnership setting; experience supervising professional employees; managerial experience.
