FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Hunter College Department of Film and Media Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Non-Fiction Media Production. Our ideal candidate will have significant experience in documentary, experimental and/or hybrid production, and experience teaching film- or media-making at the college level. The ideal candidate will be able to teach hands-on technical skills (cinematography, sound recording, editing) in addition to analytical concepts in documentary history and theory. In addition to teaching all levels of production at the undergraduate and graduate level, they should be able to teach our large lecture class ???Film and Media in a Digital Age??? and supervise graduate student lab instructors for that class.
The workload is 18 assignable hours per year, which is typically a 3-3 course load. Additional duties may include course curriculum development and assessment, advising and mentoring students, and committee work.
DEPARTMENT AND PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Department of Film & Media Studies has approximately 700 full-time students majoring in two programs of study at the undergraduate level: one in Film combining film history and theory with such creative areas as screenwriting, directing, cinematography and editing; the other in Media Studies integrating critical media analysis with creative practice using a mix of contemporary expressive forms including documentary filmmaking, TV production, journalism, digital imaging and animation, physical computing and game programming. The department faculty promotes advanced scholarship and creative expression, seeks to have a positive impact on the diverse communities we serve, and fosters the success of our students in their academic studies and as innovative writers and artists. The department also offers a nationally recognized MFA in Integrated Media Arts that seeks to educate multi-disciplinary media professionals who are socially engaged and creatively fluent across contemporary and emerging digital media platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS
An MFA in Film, Media or a related field. Teaching experience at the college level. A record of exhibition and recognition in the field of non-fiction filmmaking.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. ($75,465 to $90,375 depending on qualifications).
