Job Description
The Vice President of Human Resources and Workforce Equity provides the vision and guidance for the ongoing development and implementation of Hennepin Technical Collegeâ™s employees and talent management at two campus locations â“ Eden Prairie and Brooklyn Park. The Vice President has primary responsibility for leadership, management, strategic direction, policy development, and oversight for the human resources and workforce equity division. The Vice President provides critical leadership in enhancing and supporting the mission of the College to meet the diverse educational needs of students and the community. The Vice President partners with other leaders in developing long-term strategies to develop employees and meet the needs of the College. The Vice President reports to the President, and serves as a member of the Presidentâ™s Executive team and Cabinet.Â
The Vice President provides the leadership, vision, and oversight for employee relations, labor relations, affirmative action, compensation and benefits, change management, organizational development and training, succession planning, talent acquisition, and legal compliance for the college. This position provides the vision and guidance for policy formulation, college planning and new program development.Â
The Vice President champions the service-oriented culture of the College and promotes the Collegeâ™s values of excellence, innovation, and inclusion. The Vice President leads efforts to position the College as a collaborative and welcoming place to work that supports, engages, values and develops employees.
As a member of the senior administrative team, the Vice President develops policy and procedure on institutional issues, represents the College in Minnesota State and with external agencies and bodies, and serves as a College officer on public occasions. The Vice President is also responsible for compliance with all applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree in a related field
Progressive professional work experience in human resources leadership
Three yearsâ™ work experience supervising a team
Employee and labor relations experience, including resolution of grievances.
Proven experience in the implementation, management and review of Human Resource functions.
Demonstrated work in and commitment to the areas of equity and inclusion principles and standards
Ability to identify and address problems with confidentiality, diplomacy and integrity.
High level of competence in interpreting and applying federal and state laws and organizational policies
Understanding of collective bargaining and experience with labor contracts
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred QualificationÂ
Advanced degree in organizational management, law or related.Â
Experience in public sector human resource management.
Strategic planning and change management experience
Demonstrated ability to foster the participation of others and to work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and other constituents of the college.
Experience in strategic planning, project management, and change management.
Society for Human Resource Management or equivalent professional HR certification.

About Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, System Office
