Position Summary:
The School of Engineering & Technology (SET) in the College of Science & Engineering (CSE) at Central Michigan University (CMU) seeks an experienced and dynamic individual for an Associate or Full Professor position in advanced manufacturing. Candidates with backgrounds and expertise in all emerging domains of manufacturing engineering, science, and technology are highly encouraged to apply. Some specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, additive manufacturing, aerospace and defense applications, digital engineering, industrialized construction and infrastructure, robotics, process automation, high-performance materials, sustainable manufacturing practices, and distributed manufacturing and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will develop curricular and research programs around advanced manufacturing at CMU. CSE currently has millions of dollars in active research projects with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and this SET faculty position aligns with current and anticipated future DoD collaborations. SET also has well-established partnerships with local industry, community colleges, and K-12 tech ed programs that provide a foundation for workforce training and research activities. Rank, tenure status, and salary for this faculty position will be commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or other closely related engineering field.
Background and/or research focus on advanced manufacturing, as described in the position summary.
Teaching experience at the university or similar level.
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated strong commitment to and potential for research that attracts external funding and leads to publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in Engineering and Engineering Technology Programs of the SET.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience on ABET accreditation.
Relevant industrial or government experience.

About the Department:
The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) is housed in the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). SET has four undergraduate Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer and Environmental Engineering), three undergraduate Engineering Technology (Industrial, Mechanical and Product Design Engineering Technology) and a graduate (MS in Engineering) program. SET presently has 24 full-time faculty members. Courses are taught in an attractive 70,000 square foot engineering & technology building which houses more than twenty laboratories and support spaces.
