Collaborates with fellow Deans, academic, and support areas to create an environment that fosters high quality teaching and learning, scholarship, and community engagement. Provides leadership for all academic activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Leads with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to shared governance and shared responsibility.
Collaboratively implements the strategies and tactics that support the strategic plan and the academic master plan assuring the annually proposed and allocated budget aligns resources with agreed upon priorities.
Enables the professional development and advancement of faculty teaching, scholarship and creative activity, and service; creates an environment of respect for faculty excellence in a collective-bargaining environment.
Convenes a College Advisory Committee for the purposes of consultation related to: a. practices in the field that would inform curriculum design; b. inform adjustments to the college-level Plan; and c. fund-raising priorities and strategies
Uses data to inform decision-making that is principle-based, consultative and engages shared governance and shared responsibility.
Assures department chairpersons are diligently fulfilling their duties and responsibilities as determined via an annual developmental assessment, typically conducted in late summer timeframe.
Engages with the college?s academic advising services.
Stimulates increased focus on student success including persistence, progress, completion, and placement of students.
Collaborates with Dean of Students area to actively resolve student complaints and concerns.
Fosters an environment that enhances and values academic excellence including high-quality instruction, research, and creative activity, service, and experiential learning initiatives.
Supports the implementation of technology-enabled student success strategies and structures including enhanced relational student advising.
Facilitates mutually beneficial relationships in the community that contribute to student educational experiences, faculty scholarly and creative activities, and outcomes with identified and quantified impact and influence.
Collaborates with the academic leadership team, including strategic agenda setting for the Division of Academic Affairs.
Develops a pattern of operations that has the OAA Policies as the basis that appropriately extends to the college.
Oversees the assessment of academic programs as well as the accreditation processes associated with college programs.
Positions and markets the College through interaction with local, regional, and national professional groups.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday with expectations for weekend and evening availability as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree; demonstrated successful record of academic teaching, research, and service with credentials appropriate for rank of professor and tenure in an academic department or higher-level administrative officer position in an academic department or college; demonstrated progression of responsibilities in various academic leadership roles; extensive experience providing innovative leadership for academic planning, program development, implementation, and evaluation; and demonstrated experience in the management of financial and human resources.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in nursing or another health or human service-related field; administrative experience in allied health; distinguished record in teaching, scholarship, and service activities; knowledge of accreditation process and record of successful accreditation of programs; demonstrated record of achievement in higher education teaching and administration at department chair or higher, or other appropriately related leadership experience.
