Manage key compliance and administrative operations functions of the Student Health Center (SHC). Formally serve as the appointed Privacy Officer for the health center to develop, manage, monitor, and implement processes in alignment with federal HIPAA and FERPA regulations, state privacy laws, and University policies; coordinate and partner closely with the University Global Privacy and Data Office. Perform core privacy functions related to incident detection and reporting, initial assessment, containment and risk mitigation, investigation, notification of individuals, documentation and reporting, and post incident review and preventive measures, and training and awareness. Oversee compliance and enforcement of state immunization mandates health information management/medical records, health center related training, and professional development. Develop, revise, and/or review health center specific policies (administrative, compliance, HIPAA, FERPA, etc.) and training. Serve as a subject matter expert for staff inquiries on health center and University policies. Liaise closely with enterprise units within the University to enhance communication and collaboration and align goals and strategies. Co-manage the clinical credentialing compliance process to review health care providersâ™ qualifications to practice and assess the qualifications of specific types of providers. Perform administrative operations duties related to clinical affiliation agreements, accreditation preparation, change management, emergency management coordination, project management, strategic procurement and compliance, and onboarding and offboarding functions, etc.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Legal Studies with a focus on privacy, or relevant field
Required Experience: 5+ years progressively responsible professional level experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience managing and/or directing health care compliance and/or general compliance (i.e., HIPAA, FERPA, and other regulations). Expertise in managing administrative operations.
Preferred Experience: 7+ years experience in a large urban university health services environment. Knowledge of the college health environment and landscape. Experience navigating through a workplace model that is federated (i.e., balance between decentralized and centralized decision-making). Familiarity with credentialing management software and process. Strong skills in project management to facilitate change and sustainability with an emphasis on an engagement approach that recognizes various stakeholder expectations and roles: responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Prior and current experience supervising staff. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and strategic management skills. Proven ability to develop, direct and implement Student Health Center policies and procedures and strategic plans for future development. Knowledge of administrative best practices for ambulatory healthcare environment.
Preferred Certification/Other Qualifications:
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS), Healthcare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to USD $160,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
