The Department of English at Western Kentucky University invite applications for a nine-month, tenure-eligible, faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor, from candidates with interest in understanding the complex interactions of technology, culture, and textual production, including generative AI and information technology, digital humanities, new media studies, user experience, or other related fields.
Responsibilities will include
teaching upper-level and occasional graduate courses in professional writing and technical writing
teaching general education writing courses as that program develops responses to generative AI
contributing to the ongoing development of courses that interrogate the relationship between humans and technology
maintaining a well-defined and productive research agenda
service to the department and university
Job Requirements:
Ph.D. in Writing and Rhetoric, Technical and Professional Communication, Composition and Rhetoric, or closely related field by August 1, 2025
Demonstrated expertise in professional & technical writing and one of the following: digital humanities, information design, and/or generative AI
Demonstrated interest in curriculum development
A clear and cohesive research and publishing agenda
Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience in rhetoric and composition/writing studies or related areas
